The Comfort Ladies Golf Team won district 25AAA for the second year in a row. The first round was played at the Lago Vista Country Club on Monday and the second round was at the Buckhorn here in Comfort. The low round of the day was turned in by junior Loren Nevers with and 81. The team score of 457 for the first day left the Deer in a tie for second place with Ingram and 4 strokes behind Lago Vista.
The Comfort Ladies would not be denied on day 2 bettering their team score by 71 strokes and defeating Lago Vista by 18 over the 2 days.
Loren Nevers led the way and posted a new personal best round of 75 at the Buckhorn. Her two day total of 156 made her the 25AAA individual district champion by 43 strokes. Madelyn Day of Lago Vista took the silver medal with a 199. Comfort’s only senior Maddie Maltsberger took the bronze medal after shooting a 92 on day 2 and posting a 206 total score.
Sophomore Alexandra Ely shot an even 100 at the buckhorn, followed by juniors Bailey Dulas and Delaney Petermann who both contributed one score to the team’s victory.
The Comfort Ladies will return to Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos next week to defend their regional championship from last year.
